Since there is improved awareness of the
importance of global human resources development at
the upper level of organizations, there is a growing
demand for developing the top talents across all sectors.
To meet the global demand, business schools across the
world are stressing on Executive Education, which,
according to the Financial Times, has increased by 10%
in the 2 years from 2016 to 2017. Business schools are
trying to meet the demand mainly by recruiting diverse
participants and quality faculty in educational methods.
From 2015 to 2018, study data were gathered from 16
business schools across six countries. The survey results
on global business schools that focus on Executive
Education for senior business leaders are presented. The
present study discovered how the business schools
improve the senior leaders’ global communication skills
to maximize their leadership capabilities in the complex
and boundaryless world. This study suggests that
Executive Education attracts and develops global top
leaders by providing latest education on leadership,
strategy, critical thinking, and technology effectively in a
diversified environment with quality faculty and global
participants.
In response to a call by the US government to develop
strong leaders in the society, in both public and private
sectors, and to strengthen their global competitive edge [2],
the Executive Education managed by global business
schools was formalized by American business schools
about 75 years ago. Later, the concept of Executive
Education spread across the world owing to the growing
needs for developing global top leaders due to the
exponential growth in economy and technology. While
global organizations are keen to develop and acquire global
talents to prepare for the volatile, uncertain, complex, and
ambiguous (VUCA) world, the present study investigates
how the Executive Education offered by global business
schools are evolving their educational approaches and
programs to develop top talents in the global circumstances
The study was conducted from 2015 to 2018 by
collecting and analyzing data from 16 business schools
across six countries (the United States, the UK, France,
Spain, Switzerland, and Singapore). Fifteen of these
business schools were ranked among the top 30 in
Financial Times Executive Education in open-enrollment
category.
Executive Education is non-degree option for middle to
senior management professionals and different from an
MBA degree. Most of the programs require 5 years of
experience and mostly attracts experienced executives in
their thirties and forties. Figure 2 presents the Executive
Education overview from those in their twenties. This
survey examined the management-focused openenrollment
programs average of 4 weeks long, which were
specially designed for qualified senior executives and
entrepreneurs of several legitimate global companies and
organizations. The customized programs are closed
programs limited to one organization, and it has not been
studied in this survey due to the lack of access to the
contents and data (Figure 2).
